Profile

As an award-winning freelance journalist, specialising in travel and tourism for the past 25 years, Lee is equally at home as travel writer, guide book author, content creator, speaker or panellist.

She has written for a fascinating and diverse array of publications, both in print and on digital platforms. She is the author of the best-selling Great Australian Pubs (Hardie Grant Travel, 2012) and has been a continuing author of the Frommer’s Australia guide (Frommer Media, New York, 2000-2019) as well as the author or contributor to around a dozen other books.

Lee is currently undertaking a professional doctorate through Queensland University of Technology’s Creative Industries faculty, graduating in 2021. Her thesis topic is ethics in travel journalism in the digital age, which looks at ethical dilemmas for travel writers, their place in the travel industry, how they are affected by changing publishing platforms, and the effect of the pandemic on travel opportunities.

Lee is a Life Member, former president, and current Board member of the Australian Society of Travel Writers.
