July 2018 Women in Tourism Leadership Lunch

At the July Women in Tourism Leadership Lunch, we speak with three leading tourism professionals about the way they balance motherhood with work, the ups and downs and the realities of life with children.

Do you have to choose between parenthood and professional success? Or can you do both?

This lunch event isn’t just for parents but managers, leaders or maybe your future self? The discussion, as always, is sure to be open and honest with a fun vibe.

Our panelists are:

Bronwyn White, Co-Founder of MyTravelResearch.com had one child when she fell pregnant – quite quickly – with twins. She will share her journey and speak frankly about the difficulties of having three very young children while trying to run a business.

Kate Sorensen, Manager, Commercial Effectiveness Australasia and Japan at IHG was already in a very senior position when she fell pregnant. The issue was that her husband was also in a very senior and demanding role – so who was going to give up their job to take care of the baby? It turns out neither of them – they worked it out. Come along and hear how they do it.

Walkley award-winning photo journalist and Australian Society of Travel Writers President Danielle Lancaster was already the single mother of three children when she made the radical decision to adopt four Cambodian orphans, thus rescuing them from a sex trafficking ring. She will share her story and explain how she raised seven children on a single freelance income.
