WiT and bush fire recovery

On 13 January 2020 a letter was sent to Minister Simon Birmingham, Federal Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment from Karen Bolinger, former CEO of Melbourne Convention Bureau on behalf of Women in Tourism (Australia) group (WiT).

As the letter states “The WiT group was formed in 2015 to create a forum for discussing tourism issues and to support women in their careers in the tourism industry. Amongst our members, we have many years of experience at senior levels in federal, state and local government and extensive industry level experience with skills covering industry development, strategic destination planning, product development, trade engagement, operations, PR communications, marketing and business development.”

This letter offers its support to assist individuals, businesses and communities to recover from the devastating bushfires across Australia during early 2019 summer.

“WiT would like to offer our voluntary support to the industry at large during the recovery phase by working with the dedicated Bush Fire Recovery and Response entities established at a grassroots level.”

Further from the letter, Karen Bolinger was asked to present at the LGNSW Tourism Conference in Jindabyne (March 2020). In readiness, the below list of tourism volunteer support services (persons and businesses) has been developed so individuals, businesses and communities needing to access volunteer services in the areas of Marketing, XXX and XXX can access support directly.
